Lessons learned from the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest:

  • Find your niche no matter how obscure or different.  We each have our own thing or super power that makes us unique.
  • Loyalty – Joey Chestnut the reigning Champion and 16 time winner understood his self-worth and went to a vegan competitor.  A “no-no” with Nathan’s.  While he built his brand and loyal following with Nathan’s, he left to a company who paid him for his value.
  • Push yourself – Joey Chestnut ate 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes.  Clearly pushing himself and his body.
  • Expand yourself and always look to expand your knowledge – Joey Chestnut has done this literally via his stomach but also holds the following records.

    * Hard-boiled eggs: 141 in 8 minutes
    * Glazed donuts: 55 in 8 minutes
    * Pulled pork sandwiches: 45 in 10 minutes
    * Taco Bell softshell beef tacos: 53 in 10 minutes
    * Krystal hamburgers: 103 in 8 minutes
    * Twinkies: 121 in 6 minutes
    * Chicken wings: 413 in 12 hours
    * Big Mac sandwiches: 32 in 38 minutes
    * Tamales: 102 in 12 minutes
    * Grilled cheese sandwiches: 47 in 10 minutes
    * Ice cream sandwiches: 25.5 in 6 minutes
    * Pepperoni rolls: 43 in 10 minutes
