Well, wadda ya know. 2026 arrived, and here we are. Only six days in, and things are already cruising into another crazy time. If this pace continues, the best investment will be mental health clinics.
So far, we have “taken over” Venezuela, captured its president (and wife), made BIG noise toward Iran, eyed Greenland for acquisition, AND the bulls woke up early and are buying stocks like crazy. New highs. Any negative thoughts (and there “should” be plenty) are dismissed as just plain stupid. I mean, you buy at the first of the year, wait 360 days, and collect 15%–20%. Ka-Ching. No problem.
Will it all last? Will 2026 be just like previous years? Will this be the top of the markets? Well, checking with my crack investment committee (the Easter Bunny, Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and Jim Cramer), they are analyzing things right now. Give them a week in this new year, and things should be clearer.
In the meantime, if you did buy at the crack of dawn this new year, congrats. This very early bullishness scares me a bit. I would not be one bit surprised to see the S&P 500 hit 7,000, the Dow hit 50,000, or GOLD see $5,000. But then? I can stand to wait another week or so to fully decide (gotta have my investment committee confirm).
I AM surprised BITCOIN isn’t romping higher. I mean, everyone says it’s soooo cheap and should be at $250K, $500K, $1M, etc. (pick one). However, I’ll stay long for a while and wait for my treasure chest to open.
So, let’s give these markets a week or so and go from there. As always, stay hedged and careful.
