Well here we are……again. The last week of April and keep in mind there won’t be another last week of April for 12 months.
Just sitting around watching the various market sectors all go in different directions while waiting for another Fed no action meeting tomorrow. It surely can’t get any better than this, right? This randomly confusing market certainly can’t be the “new normal” for financial markets, right? Or, maybe a third category; Bullish, Bearish or Confused.
Tomorrow’s Fed meeting will probably be Fed Chair J. Powell’s last. No more kicking him around anymore. Of course there will be no change in interest rates and probably in Fed policy either. Just a goodbye lunch and handing the office keys to new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh. Goodbye and thanks for the fish.
So let’s get right to it. What does a trader do in these markets? Straight talk? I have no idea. I put my dart board away years ago and trying to outsmart the AI quants is a fool’s game.
Looking out, say 6 months or so and longer, I am staying neutral on the S&P 500 and GOLD. At least until we have really REALLY won the war……again. And, stopped fighting. I continue to believe BITCOIN and tag along ETH are looking good. Playing BTC with 3-6 month call spreads. Not to far out of the money. I use the IBIT ETF. Always hedge in these markets.
