For financial advisors, professional networking is becoming more than a way to exchange business cards. It is becoming a source of education, community and practical knowledge. Brandon J. Wellman, CFP, RICP, is taking on a new role focused on making those connections stronger.
MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table), the global association for financial professionals, has appointed Wellman as U.S. Country Chair of its Membership Communications Committee for 2027. His term began Sept. 1.
Wellman is an eight-year MDRT member. He has qualified for Court of the Table six times and Top of the Table twice. He is also an advisor with Prudential Advisors.
The Membership Communications Committee is built around a simple idea. Members can learn from each other. Wellman will lead a team of volunteers working to increase engagement among MDRT members in the United States.
The group will support networking events, book clubs, new-member outreach and educational webinars. These programs give advisors ways to share ideas and build relationships beyond their individual practices.
That kind of peer network matters in an industry where technology is changing how advisors work. Advisors have access to more digital tools than ever. Yet technology does not eliminate the need for human connections. In many cases, it makes those connections more valuable.
“Brandon is well suited to lead MCC because of his commitment to service and ability to connect with members,” said Clay Gillespie, CFP, CLU, 2027 MDRT President.
Gillespie pointed to Wellman’s volunteer work and his ability to help members learn from one another.
MDRT was founded in 1927. It now represents financial professionals from more than 80 nations and territories and nearly 700 companies.
