There is not much to say. Not much is new. Financial markets are winding down, and the waiting game for the December 10 Fed meeting on interest rates has begun.
Producer prices (PPI) came in a bit “cooler,” but that’s old data due to the government shutdown. It will take a bit longer for fresh data. That puts the Fed in kind of a blind spot, but it is becoming fairly clear that interest rates will either stay the same or ease by .25 bps. Gee, last week there was a low probability of any rate cut; now it is about a 70% chance for a cut. Why? Last week the market went down; this week the market is up. Simple.
So, to honor all the turkeys out there, I’m staying neutral. Neutral on GOLD, neutral on the S&P 500, neutral on ETH, and—but—neutral to a tinge bullish on BITCOIN. If, IF, that was the bottom on BITCOIN, a wild ride up may be in store.
Very thin markets currently, so I don’t feel bad staying neutral. Just enjoy the holidays. Plenty of opportunities ahead.
