So far, this summer has been a big yawn in the financial markets. Oh sure, stocks have hit all-time highs—gold, bitcoin, and crypto as well—but in a very unexciting way. Yawn.
Maybe we all need some drama. Like a TV soap opera. “Days of Our Trade?” Will bitcoin hit $200K with sexy buying? Will bitcoin be sabotaged by evil sellers and plunge to $90K? What will gold do? Will the gold bugs bug out, sending gold crashing? Will stocks still be the sexy darling being chased higher and higher? Or will suitors discover stocks are not that sexy—and too high maintenance? Tune in tomorrow (or next week) to “Days of Our Trade” to see.
Summer thoughts? Not going to change my general thoughts… Bullish on BITCOIN and ETH, neutral to a bit bullish on GOLD, and leaning bearish on the S&P 500—but staying neutral. It’s extremely hard to discern market behavior and form opinions when nothing moves.
A case can be made for a sharp “melt-up” rally for a final blow-off. A similar case can be made for a sudden sharp drop (including bitcoin). It is not hard to find bullish (and fully invested) people. Scary. What kind of good news is left out there?
Bitcoin, ether, crypto, gold, and stocks need a shakeout. But when?? Tune in to “Days of Our Trade.”
