Greetings from Digital Wealth News™
Friends, today (June 25) would have been my Dad’s 101st birthday. Christmas was his FAVORITE holiday and he had the absolutely perfect birthday – exactly 6 months from the holiday each year.
An inveterate entrepreneur, he was always dreaming up new ventures (one memorable one was putting a restaurant in one of our barns, and using the silo for an elevator shaft), even as he and my mother ran a real estate sales and development company, a mobile home park, an auction house and several farms. I’m frankly astonished, in retrospect, at what they were able to do and accomplish in their lifetimes, coming from virtually nothing (Dad sold magazine subscriptions door to door after they were married), and in his case, operating with a debilitating physical handicap plus no internet.
As we share absolutely cutting edge fintech & AI content with our readers, I’m reminded of his stories of riding to school in a horse-drawn carriage (in Monroe Center, Illinois) and how the 1936 Rural Electrification Act changed farm life. There are so many more stories, but what a juxtoposition to our lives today. It’s so difficult to imagine living with no electricity, but that was a daily reality for rural Americans until the 1930’s.
What a journey our family’s made in a century – from horse drawn carriages to artificial intelligence. Mind-blowing, really. And meanwhile, more news on the technology and AI front for you below…READ UP!
