116

This week we continue our series on the top 5 VC-funded deals in AI.

This week our overall AI venture capital activity accelerated once again from recent weeks, with all five of our listed announcements coming in over $500 million and 12 announcements total coming in over $100 million.

The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from a familiar name, San Francisco-based Databricks, which raised a $5 billion strategic funding round for “for continued innovation across Lakebase, its serverless Postgres database built for AI agents, Genie, Databricks’ AI coworker that turns business data into trusted answers and actions, and Unity AI Gateway, for multi-AI governance and cost controls,” according to its announcement. Our second-place announcement was from the data center and AI infrastructure space, where Denver-based Flexential raised $1.37 billion to “accelerate the development of new data center capacity in high-growth markets and support more than 130 MW of new capacity across Atlanta-Douglasville, GA, Portland-Hillsboro, OR, Denver-Parker, CO, and Atlanta-Norcross, GA,” according to its announcement. Rounding out the top 5 are announcements from the AI infrastructure, image creation and voice AI spaces.

Smaller funding raises that did not quite make our top 5 this week included announcements from the construction, development and AI infrastructure sectors.
