Two weeks into 2025 and now what? So far the new year is NOT what most investors were expecting. Certainly folks in LA did not expect to see parts of their city totally destroyed by fire. And no one knows what comes next.
Tomorrow (Wed. 1/15) will bring the CPI (Consumer Price Index). I bring that up only to say……so what. Not going to bring anything new to the table. Things are going to be on hold for a while waiting to see what policies will, or will not, be initiated by the new administration. Uncertainty abounds. AND, uncertainty abounds with very high equity valuations and even higher investor expectations of performance returns. NOT a good combination.
So for now, hold tight. Don’t fall for the FOMO (fear of missing out) noise. The downs side in ALL categories/sectors appears to outweigh the upside. Let’s look again next week after the inauguration. The year is young.
