Cambridge Investment Research has expanded its executive team with the addition of Sean Van Moorleghem as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Bringing two decades of tech-related experience to his new role, Van Moorleghem most recently served at Charles Schwab, having held various leadership roles at TD Ameritrade before its 2020 acquisition by Schwab.
As Cambridge’s CTO, Van Moorleghem will lead the firm’s technology initiatives, overseeing the development and execution of innovative products, services and systems for both the firm and its approximately 3,800 advisors.
“Sean is an experienced technologist with an impressive track record of leading successful digital transformations at some of the largest companies in our industry,” said President of Innovation and Experience, Colleen Bell, in a company statement. “As we continue our mission to build an industry-leading technology platform, Sean’s experience leading technology, digital transformation, and AI personalization will be invaluable. I’m thrilled to have him join our Cambridge family.”
During Van Moorleghem’s tenure at Schwab/TD Ameritrade, he led multiple software engineering departments and played a key role in advancing platform modernization and implementing AI-driven automation. Prior to Schwab/TD Ameritrade, Van Moorleghem served in tech-related leadership positions at West Corporation, First Data Corporation, and Deloitte.
He has a bachelor’s degree in management information systems from the University of Nebraska and completed the Securities Industry Institute (SII) Executive Leadership program at The Wharton School.
