Welcome to July. The beginning of the third quarter starts NOW and July 4th fireworks (and riots) begin Friday. What could be better? The pool or beach, for sure.
Financial markets are mixed with major indexes (Dow, S&P) drifting higher, alternating between up days and down days. New highs (quietly) are set. Know what’s missing? There’s no tariff talk. No inflation talk. No earnings or valuation talk. Only bullish talk. Markets always go up, right. Well they certainly have, but forever? Every day markets get riskier.
Wars have proven to be non-events for markets. Nothing makes much difference except bullishness. What could possibly go wrong. Well, a whole lot, but if nobody else is concerned why should I be? But I am concerned. I believe it is time to remain neutral, reduce risk, do some hedging and have a good summer. Not time to be a hero.
