Things are officially out of control. The amount of optimism in the financial markets is really unbelievable. Even the volatility index is volatile. Investors seem to have an unfilled need to own stocks… or whatever is moving up. Dangerous, yes. Fear, no.

At long last, there will be some “official” government economic data released this Friday. The CPI (Consumer Price Index) will hit the headlines. No matter what the numbers are (put in your own guess), it will NOT affect the Fed’s much-anticipated decision to lower interest rates at their meeting next week. Nope, easing is a lock.

With the uncertainty and unrelenting bullishness lurking around, it makes no sense to be short (for now). If you aren’t long, be neutral. Or grab that bottle of vodka (or your favorite pills) and just go for it. After you hit that buy button, just remember—sobering up is scary.

I have taken GOLD off my bullish list after quite a spectacular rally. Neutral now. HUGE talk around that the U.S. will diversify (sell) out of GOLD and into BITCOIN. Makes sense. Just think of what would happen if the U.S. were to sell 25% of its GOLD reserves and put the profits into BITCOIN. Ooooo, maybe it’s underway? In any event, I don’t want to be long GOLD but certainly not short either. Neutral is so comfy.

Which brings us to BITCOIN and ETH. Both have languished for a bit, just drifting around making everyone crazy (up, down, down, up, etc.). Will they explode like GOLD did? Will the government diversify into BITCOIN? I say yes. Bullish—and do not play the short side.

The S&P 500 is so, SO tempting to short, but neutral is better. Stocks can’t go up all the time, right? Well, apparently they can. The S&P is fun (and breathtaking) to watch but not to be short (yet). I’m staying neutral and watching.

So, if you haven’t hit the vodka or popped the pills and got (or are) long, being neutral and watching the movie is so comfy. Just put some hedges on before you sober up.
