And Here We Are

400

So where are we?

Labor Day, September, last month of the third quarter, end of summer, football season, schools are in and on and on. That’s where we are NOW. But it’s where we might be in the next few months that will make life “interesting.” Egads.

Let’s just take September (take my month, please) and point out some very important, and potential “earth shattering” events, to circle on your calendars. First is this Friday’s release of August employment numbers. Remember, those numbers are “suspect” after the Labor Department “lost” over 800K jobs recently after revisions. Oops. Government numbers are now not to be trusted.

Then only a few days later, the Sept. 10 Presidential debate. Maybe. Seems some details still are being discussed, but that “debate” may be an election game changer. Oh, and then there is the Sept. 16 sentencing of former president Trump. THAT could rock the landscape. Jail? Probation? Set free? If that’s not enough, Sept. 17-18 brings the Fed decision (like we don’t what it is) on interest rates. After all that potential market moving news, Fall begins Sept. 22.

October will bring a full court press before the election (if there is an election). More political ads, more nastiness, lies, disinformation and stuff like that. Then Oct. 23-24 brings the inaugural Big Sky AI Roundtable out in Bozeman. Oh, and of course Halloween. Stick with Dracula’s and nurses for costumes, nothing political.

Then November brings “The Election.” Oh s***. Unless it is deemed too dangerous and potentially violent and the military steps in. If it all goes as planned, Thanksgiving will still be on the calendar.

December a breath of fresh air? Happy holiday season? Why not?

In between now and then how will the financial markets react to all the potential “earth shattering news?” After a really big couple of years (especially this one), will profit taking take hold before all the uncertainty unfolds? Will markets sky rocket higher? Think it out.

So, here we are. Where WILL we be? The only thing for certain is the “sports experts” can tell you who will be the college footfall national champion this year. Sigh. If they could only tell us where WE will be on Dec. 31.
