I’M BAAAAAACK!!

Yes, that’s right – Cindy Taylor here, back writing the Top 5 VC columns for DWN.  A huge thank you to our friend Teresa Leno who helped us with this column for the past several months as we rolled out our AI&Finance brand and Big Sky AI Roundtable.  As I was “re-learning” our process for writing this column, I found it FASCINATING that in the time that I’ve been away from it, the VC deals in healthcare have MUSHROOMED.  In the past, fintech and decentralized finance deals were prevalent, if not front and center, but AI and healthcare have overtaken the VC funding sector, at least in the first part of 2025, from what I can see.

Also – we’re going to play a bit with the layout for this column, so you’ll see a different format below than we have used in the past, and that may change a bit each week for the next few weeks – we’ll see.

Meanwhile, notable trends this past week…

  • The US lead the way in funding around digital finance, with four of the top five deals
  • That said, one of the top two deals came out of the UAE for a tokenization platform
  • Our second “top deal” came out of Atlanta for a payroll/HR platform
  • And we usually do 3 bullets here, but I’m adding a fourth here because we want to note one of the best busiiness names we’ve seen in a while is in our list below – PrettyDamnQuick

Up next are this week’s top 5 VC deals…
