New week, new crazy. Financial markets decided that this is the week to go down. Weather watchers got a chance to REALLY watch some weather. Sports enthusiasts got a huge Olympic surprise. Mexico got a shock after eliminating a cartel leader. Iran is preparing for a shock and Trump, not to be outdone, is……well, who knows. Scary? Yes. Crazy? Let’s find out.
The very first thing that pops out, and certainly at the top of anyone’s crazy chart, is New York City’s new mayor, Mamdani. A strong vocal advocate of NOT requiring a voter ID in elections is changing his thoughts for the Big Apple. Yes, crazy as it seems, the mayor is requiring five (5) forms of ID to be allowed to shovel snow. Really? Yes, really. Bring on the snow and don’t forget your. ID’s.
This week also brings a lot more downside to bitcoin (crypto market in general) and confusion to those BTC investors (except Peter Schiff). Think about it. Bitcoin is cruising along $100K+/- with companies loading their treasuries with bitcoin holdings, Michael Saylor CEO of Strategy (formally MicroStrategy) buying en masse and, AND, Trump and family companies loading up and touting the bitcoin revolution. So what’s crazy. Bitcoin goes down….and down….and even more down. Crazy.
The week also brings another fear. Iran. Yes, again. President Trump has sent something like 50 aircraft carriers (really 3 or 4), hundreds of aircraft and positioned them right off Iran’s shore. Hope he noticed Russian and Chinese ships are nearby. He has drawn a red line for Iran to give up all nuclear development and/or make a regime change by this Thursday. However, many of the generals and admirals in charge of “war” have recently told him that the U.S. may not escape some large damage. Very large damage. I know it sounds crazy, but perhaps they should have said that before all those ships and aircraft went to the Mideast.
So, this is the new week with the President’s State of the Union address tonight. Surprises? You bet. Every day and week just gets crazier.
