Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in AI (2/20/26)

66

This week we continue our series on the top 5 VC-funded deals in AI.

Venture capital activity came in with a top-heavy but down week, where we saw four fundraising announcements come in above the $100 million threshold.

The biggest announcement, per FinSMEs, came from San Francisco-based Databricks, which raised $7 billion in a Series L at a $134 billion valuation. Databricks, who we’ve covered in our AI Education column in the past, is a data intelligence platform. The company will use its new funding to “accelerate development and adoption of Lakebase, its serverless Postgres database built for AI agents, and Genie, its conversational AI assistant that lets any employee chat with their data,” according to the announcement. Our second announcement is from Austin, Texas robotics firm Apptronik, which raised $520 million in a Series A-X  to “accelerate the development of its humanoid robot, Apollo, and expand its global network of commercial and pilot deployments,” according to its announcement. The top five also included companies in the agentic AI, cloud and AI infrastructure spaces.

Smaller funding raises that did not quite make our top 5 this week included announcements from the infrastructure, healthcare and automotive development sectors.

Below, we highlight the top five venture capital deals, ranked from the highest to the lowest funding amounts, showcasing the companies at the forefront of the AI revolution…
