The Lead: Oh No, Not Another New Week.

56

Just like clockwork, another new week has arrived. This week got going a little faster with daylight savings time kicking in too. It’s going to be really tough to beat last week’s events but never underestimate what can happen in any week.

Remember way back to a week ago when the “it will be over in 3-4 days war” kicked into action? Well toward the end of last week the war looked like 3-4 weeks for a victory. Welcome to this week. No end in sight, spreading throughout the region and Iran is very much alive. Keep in mind that there are news blackouts/censored content and generally nothing can really be trusted. New week, bigger better war.

Last week was capped with a huge drop in the jobs numbers. Just short of 100K jobs lost. Expectations was for a gain of 50K. Oh well, the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) has always had trouble with numbers.

Well this week brings inflation worries.  The CPI (Consumer Price Index) and the Fed’s good old favorite PCE index (Personal Consumption Expenditures) are released Wednesday and Friday respectively. Keep in mind those numbers will not have the rapidly rising oil/gasoline prices in them. That’s for next month when the war is over, right?

BREAKING NEWS: While writing, a headline just crossed. Trump just announced the Iran war is pretty much complete. So the new week gets some good news, right? The U.S. wins.

Let’s hope the Iranians get the news and “let’s call the whole thing off.” Again, keep in mind, this writing is taking place on Monday of the new week. Tuesday through Friday probably have some surprises in them. The government partial shutdown ends? Someone actually uses a nuclear weapon? That’s not a surprise, it’s just plain scary.

While the new week unfolds and uncertainty flows throughout the financial community it won’t be long until it will be time to get ready for some real solid certainty. Something easy to predict and foresee. Of course it’s the NCAA March Madness Basketball Bracket’s. Not this week, but the next new week filling out those brackets will actually seem easier then the financial markets.

Welcome to yet another new week.
