That’s it. Summer is over. Darker in the morning and the sun sets earlier in the evening. Hope it was good.
This Friday brings the jobs release. Employment numbers are THE big deal of the week. If the jobs report comes in very weak, it’s a good bet that the Fed will cut interest rates—not because inflation has come down, but because the economy is getting “soft.” Meaning, if the Fed cuts rates, it’s bearish. It does not appear that the jobs report will show strong employment.
New worry: Venezuela. U.S. ships and submarines are on the scene right off Venezuela’s coast, and Trump has put a $50M bounty on the country’s president. Watch oil.
Government shutdown is a strong possibility at the end of the month. I think it’s a big yawn.
Gold has jumped to new all-time highs with all the uncertainty. Not happy being a bit short.
The S&P 500 and crypto are in trouble. A sharp downturn has begun. Get short or at least hedge up. There will be a rush to the exits before the end of the month (4th quarter).
It’s a short week. Be careful.
