Docupace, the provider of back-office automation solutions for wealth management firms, made a big M&A splash this week at the Riskalyze Fearless Investing Summit in Palm Springs, with Docupace’s announcement of its acquisition of PreciseFP.

Not to sound like a broken record, but we often do. But I believe this week's internatoinal VC deals in the fintech sector may have hit an all-time high, inasmuch as the smallest deal was $200M USD, and we by-passed numerous deals in excess of $100M for this week's list.

Fintech companies are increasingly targeting trading, one startup is shortening its workweek, and a bitcoin ETF could finally be on the horizon. In addition, the IPO pipeline is full but is facing regulatory delays though investor demand appears to be robust. 

Financial advisors are doing deals, strengthening their technology offerings and battening down the cybersecurity hatches. 

Actions by the Commission that include slow-walking certain fintech-related qualifications, including its sheer unwillingness to approve a cryptocurrency ETF, are just the tip of the iceberg. The latest threats by the SEC to sue cryptocurrency exchanges and its allusions to banning fintech revenue models altogether should have every American deeply concerned – especially when suggestions of such bans come just weeks following an IPO effective date.

Seasons change and so does the fintech landscape. Since our last update, one major cryptocurrency exchange is calling out the SEC, Europe does not want to get left behind on digital currencies, investors have some remorse over buy now pay later, and SPACs are still popular.  

Global central banks will continue to acquire and hold gold in their treasuries, but why? If you are not going to back fiat currencies with gold, all you have is a pile of shiny rocks sitting in a vault. I'm pretty positive that, even as a store of value, it would at least be expected to provide an increasing rate of return.
