The Week in Digital Wealth (9/21/21)
Financial institutions continue to target fintechs on their radar, but one global investment bank is getting the wrong kind of attention for its upcoming deal. Companies are trying to differentiate themselves in the buy now pay later pool. The deal pipeline is filling with M&A, SPACs and IPOs, and crypto trading is all the rage.
Top 5 VC Deals of the Summer in Digital Wealth (9/7/21)
Now that we're officially post-Labor Day, we're looking at the top 5 largest fintech deals of the summer, and there have been some whoppers. To give you a perspective, the LOWEST funding level in this Top 5 list for the summer was a $500M Series G for equity management system Carta. Kids are gaining access to financial apps sooner than later, thanks to one UK-based challenger bank. In addition, a couple of German fintech startups are looking to gain a foothold in the US market while the IPO pipeline keeps growing. Andreessen Horowitz has made a key hire and is doubling down on crypto despite a murky regulatory environment.
Top 5 VC Deals of the Week in Digital Wealth (5/26/21)
We're back in lofty heights this week with all five deals exceeding $100M and one deal just shy of $1B USD. How many times have I said this now-practically every week. The dollars in the VC sector going into fintech are enormous. Methinks maybe just a wee bit of inflation in there rearing it's usgly head in the sector as well - whattya think?
The Week in Digital Wealth (5/11/21)
After a robust first quarter in which fintech startups gripped the headlines for unprecedented VC fundraisings, the momentum continues. Last week was no exception — including a multi-billion dollar exit for a Utah-based fintech unicorn. In addition, fintech firms are raising capital at a dizzying pace in emerging markets, while they have also moved into the conversation for one of the hottest niches in crypto — central bank digital currencies (CBDCs.)
