Orion Advisor Solutions has announced the acquisition of Atlanta area-based wealthtech firm HiddenLevers, a risk analysis, investment process, and executive oversight platform serving the asset management and wealth sectors.

iCapital Network®, the global financial technology platform driving access and efficiency in alternative investing for the asset and wealth management industries, and KKR, a leading global investment firm, today announced that iCapital RF Adviser, a registered investment adviser and subsidiary of iCapital, has been appointed investment adviser of the iCapital KKR Private Markets Fund.3

Over the past decade, fintech has been shaped to a fair extent by two dueling forces: On the one hand, are those who believe the future is in the hands of DIY investors, empowered by advancements in robo-advice (think Betterment), online self-directed trading (think Robinhood), as well as consumer-facing financial planning tools like Personal Capital or Quicken.

Fintech has a metaphorical chocolate and peanut butter. The chocolate would be decentralized finance, fintech applications that put the power of banking, lending and investing directly into the user’s hands, with less reliance on financial intermediaries, or no reliance on them at all.

Insurance and crypto. Those categories were the two big winners this past week in fintech-focused venture capital with deals ranging from $80M-$100M.

JP Morgan Chase has tested blockchain payments between orbiting satellites (yes, in space) to demonstrate how digital devices might use technology behind virtual currencies for transactions. In other words, telling your creditors you were abducted by Martians and couldn't pay your bills ain't gonna fly.

What's new? Actually, not too much. BTC & ETH are just about unchanged from last week's Taylor Report prices. BITCOIN hit upper $50K area, sold off to lower $40K area and here we are taking a breather.
