Friends, we have a fresh new format for you this week, as we continue to see more stratospheric investment in fintech. That said, in our past two weeks, every Top 5 VC deal has been over $200M, and this week, we saw those numbers drop somewhat. Time will tell if this foretells a future trend of lowering investment numbers in the sector.

Not to sound like a broken record, but we often do. But I believe this week's internatoinal VC deals in the fintech sector may have hit an all-time high, inasmuch as the smallest deal was $200M USD, and we by-passed numerous deals in excess of $100M for this week's list.

Ohmygosh. I write this column every week and STILL had to stop and turn around to my husband, pause for a moment in near disbelief, and tell him that the numbers have just EXPLODED again in fintech VC. It seems to ebb and flow but every time it flows, the numbers just get bigger and bigger, as evidenced by the $10B deal we lead off with. Yes, you read that right, with a (B).

This week, we had some MAMMOTH deals in VC in the fintech sector, with three of the five based in the US, and the other two in London and Vietnam. Also, this week saw some VERY big funding rounds. If this is indicative of what 2021 holds in the fintech VC arena, now that we are officially back at work post-holiday season, we're in for some whopper deals. I wouldn't be surprised if we something at $1B or more at this point.
