Top 5 VC Deals | Fintech

Now that we're officially post-Labor Day, we're looking at the top 5 largest fintech deals of the summer, and there have been some whoppers. To give you a perspective, the LOWEST funding level in this Top 5 list for the summer was a $500M Series G for equity management system Carta. The top deal came in at $1B+ (yes, "B") for NC-based financial reporting software firm insightsoftware.

This week's roundup of the Top 5 VC deals in digital wealth leaves several $100M+ deals off the list. Here we are again, with every deal in excess of $100M and three offshore.

This week we have some really interesting and diverse deals to review in our Top 5 VC Deals in Digital Wealth column - across multiple sectors and on 3 continents. And even though it's the dead of summer (though in Montana we're already moving straight into fall), there is still some big money moving around in the VC sector for fintech and digital wealth.

We've given up acting surprised when every deal each week continues to be over $100M in VC funding, and this week is no different. What I loved seeing is that the US was back in the driver's seat for the top deals internationally in financial technology.

D, and international in scope. I honestly sometimes feel guilty limiting this list to the Top 5 VC deals, because important deals OVER $100M USD are increasingly not making the cut for this column. But that's where the fintech VC market is headed - "to infinity, and beyond".

This past week we again saw some MIGHTY deals in the digital wealth sector, with every one over $200M USD, and so many in that category that we couldn't include others in the $100M-$200M USD range this week's Top 5 list. Shocking, isn't it?

ONE MORE WEEK with every deal at $100M USD+ and we even had to trim one - Employment Hero ($100M USD) - because we had 3 deals come in right at $100M and could only use two for our weekly story.

In the meantime, TechCrunch recently published a post noting Q2/21 was the hottest quarter ever for VC fundings. LOTS of cash sloshing around with all that freshly minted dollars coming off the printing presses, so we're none too surprised.

As I reviewed our columns going back to the first of the year, it was abundantly evident that the deal sizes have ratcheted up as the year has progressed. I'll also admit, it felt weird to leave out deals in the $500M - $600M range. But those did not make the list, incredibly.
