Top 5 VC Deals | Fintech

This week, 3 of the top 5 deals were international - out of South Korea, Holland and China; The Chinese deal received funding from a Canadian teacher's pension fund - we thought that was interesting and rather unusual; In America, the two firms who made our list this week were in auto finance and wealthtech - two strong areas of financing in our country.

This week, we're back again with a fresh new round of top 5 VC deals in the digital wealth sector, with another blockbuster week of fundings, and other $100M+ deals that didn't make the top 5 including Addepar ($150M) and PayCargo ($125).

Four of the top 5 deals this week come out of foreign markets - Mexico, Sweden, France and Germany. We also have two deals in the blockchain sector - Solana Labs and Ledger. Big numbers again, this week, too. The smallest deal in the Top 5 came in at $180M with the "winner" - Swedish payments firm Klarna - topping out at $639M USD.

This week, same as I always do, I went to my trusted source for listings of these deals and the first 5 were all over $100M. I thought to myself, "hmmm, this column will be a piece of cake this week!" BUT - I scrolled down and saw MORE deals - HUGE deals - on the following pages. So we have again hit another round of massive funding this past week - EVERY ONE OVER $300M USD!

We're back again with a fresh new round of top 5 VC deals for the week in the digital wealth sector. This is going to sound redundant. Not one deal is under $100M, and we actually had to omit British firm Paysend from this list, who also had a deal close at $125M this week - because - we would then be at 6 deals for our "Top 5 Deals" post.

We're back in lofty heights this week with all five deals exceeding $100M and one deal just shy of $1B USD. How many times have I said this now-practically every week. The dollars in the VC sector going into fintech are enormous. Methinks maybe just a wee bit of inflation in there rearing it's usgly head in the sector as well - whattya think?

This week we included a few new sectors - govtech - as part of these platforms are revenue monetization by local governments, and a B2B commerce platform for the manufacturing sector, out of India. Fintech is SO cool, and SO diverse, isn't it?!!

Ohmygosh. I write this column every week and STILL had to stop and turn around to my husband, pause for a moment in near disbelief, and tell him that the numbers have just EXPLODED again in fintech VC. It seems to ebb and flow but every time it flows, the numbers just get bigger and bigger, as evidenced by the $10B deal we lead off with. Yes, you read that right, with a (B).

We're back into stratosphere territory, with the top fintech deal of the week topping a jaw-dropping $600M and the second at $300M.
